I love reading memoirs because I love seeing the world through someone else’s perspective. I also love how much you can learn from reading about other people’s experiences.
Honestly, before I read Amy Poehler’s Yes Please I didn’t know much about her at all, besides that she was funny and played Regina George’s Mum in Mean Girls.
Rolling Stones described this book as a “329-page nonlinear hopscotch across Poehler’s life and career” – and I found it unexpectedly charming. It also made me realise that Amy is so much more than just Regina George’s Mum!
Yes Please is a candid account of Amy’s experiences in life and I would describe the book as hilarious, honest, inspiring and genuine.
One of my favourite things about this book is that it’s chock full of nuggets of wisdom and real life advice, so here are some of the standout takeaways for me…
Inspirational. Actionable. Soulful. Practical.

Fear is something we all have to deal with.
It may be something you constantly try to avoid.
It may keep you locked in your safe little comfort zone.
It may be holding you back from doing amazing things.
And it may be one of the reasons you’re not living your dream life right now.

Last Friday I graduated and officially became a life coach.
And my amazing journey with the Beautiful You Coaching Academy ended. But I know that this really is only the beginning.
To be honest there aren’t adequate words to describe how incredibly grateful I am for this incredible experience, but today I am going to do the best I can…

I remember the exact moment that I realised I was my own worst enemy.
I was watching one of my favourite TV shows Girls and these words hit me like a freight train…
And in that moment I realised that I was my own worst enemy.
I then decided that I was going to start being a lot kinder to myself, from then on.
For this segment of The Gratitude Diaries I thought I would do something a little bit different.
Instead of just telling you what I am grateful for and why I am going to show you what it looked and felt like.
I spent Easter visiting my family where I did lots of hiking, reading, spent a lot of time outside – and ate lots of homemade raw chocolate!
So I could tell you about my Easter break, but let me show you instead…

If you would also like to ‘take stock’ what’s going on for your at the moment I used prompts from Meet Me At Mikes.
So here’s what is going on for me at the moment on this Friday afternoon…
