Katherine Mackenzie-Smith completely understands what it’s like to be an introvert — and because of that — to feel like you don’t belong, that there’s something “wrong” with you, and that you’re not good enough.
Which is why I was beyond thrilled when she released her eBook Shhh… An Introvert’s Guide to Creating Inner Peace, Outer Calm, and an Exceptionally Beautiful Life. Seriously, I love Katherine’s work so much that I bought the eBook before I’d even read a single word on the sales page (which I never do!).
Shhh… will help you fully embrace who you are, own and honour your unique energy and ultimately find your own way to shine — it really is the ultimate guide for introverts!
I truly believe that every introvert who wants to ignite their own quiet power will get so much out of this eBook, and today I’m sharing 5 of my favourite things I learnt from reading Shhh…

I remember the moment that I discovered I was introverted.
I was sitting in a first-year university psychology class several years ago having just done my first personality test to indicate where I fell on the introvert-extravert spectrum and the results revealed: introvert.
At first I was confused, “What?I’m an introvert? That can’t be right.”
So I did it again.
But the result was the same: introvert.
Since then, I’ve done many personality tests, as well as studied an entire unit on personality — and the results have been consistently the same.
So why was I confused that I was introverted?
Most likely because introversion is not well understood, and it’s a trait that many people have a lot of false misconceptions about. I know I used to.
Ever since I realised I was an introvert I have become more intrigued and interested in learning about this personality type.
For me, understanding my unique energy has had a really powerful influence on my life. And I truly believe that understanding this part of myself has been profound in the way I show up in my life.
Which is why I’m incredibly excited to be having Introvert Week here on the blog this week.
This means that each day this week I will have an introverted related post for you. There’s going to be stories from my life, things that have helped me embrace this part of myself, including useful resources (and there will be a giveaway of one of my favourites!), as well as interviews and insights with other introverts.
Today we’re kicking things off with some misconceptions about introverts, things introverts often have in common, as well as a dot-point style history of what being introverted has been like in my life.

It’s March Link Fest time!
And I’ve got heaps of awesome things to share with you in this edition like closing the gap between who you are and who you want to be, fighting for your joy, the truth about having it all, why it’s okay to be sad, how to have a calmer day and so much more.
Enjoy!

Emily Ehlers… How do I begin to describe Emily Ehlers?
Emily Ehlers is a hilariously honest storyteller, writer and creative copywriter.
I hear her writing and words are world-changing, full-of-wisdom, colourful, and fun — and that she “rebels against modern day seriousness.”
I hear she has recently written an eBook called Cruisy: The Road Less Frazzled.
Her favourite meditation is the 4-7-8 technique.
One time she made me laugh out loud at my computer screen (actually this happens all the time!)
And she has a thing for camembert (me too!)
One time she agreed to be interviewed for this site… it was awesome.
Enjoy her words and wisdom!

When I was 12 years old I read my first self-development book, which sparked a curiosity for personal development and psychology — and led to me deciding that I wanted to become a psychologist when I grew up.
After high school I got accepted into university to study psychology, but during my gap year I realised that I didn’t really want to become a psychologist anymore.
I thought it was a waste to have spent nearly a decade working towards something, then to realise that it wasn’t actually what I wanted anymore.
So even though I knew that it wasn’t what I wanted anymore, I still held onto this goal for quite awhile.
This is why it’s so important to make sure you truly want to achieve your goal before you commit to it — as well as continually checking in with yourself while you’re pursuing your goal to ensure it’s still aligned to what you want.
And on that note, here are 19 questions to ask yourself before you commit to a goal, to make sure it’s truly what you want. Plus I’ve also got a super useful worksheet to help you work through the questions.

You can’t start a blog.
Who do you think you are? You can’t do this — you’re not an expert on ANYTHING.
What’s the point no one is going to read it anyway?
No one cares what you have to say so don’t even bother!
These are just some of the (many) things my “Mean Girl” as Melissa Ambrosini calls it — told me when I first wanted to start this blog.
And honestly I let these thoughts — and my Mean Girl — hold me back from doing this for such a long time.
One of the most powerful things I’ve ever done was to stop buying into my what my inner critic was saying.
Doing this changed everything — and made me stop holding myself back from doing what I really wanted. I ended up launching this blog, enrolling in a life coaching course and putting myself out there as a certified life coach, and so much more.
What I know for sure is this:
Which is why I really believe in the work Melissa Ambrosini is doing in the world — and in particularly with her new book: Mastering Your Mean Girl.
It feels really good to be here and writing this to you today.
Maybe because its the first day of a new month (and I love starting new months!). Or that I started my day with almond milk chai and breakfast out with two of my favourite people. Or perhaps because I spent the better part of last week having a break in Tasmania, and have come back feeling full and rejuvenated.
Whatever it is, I’m glad to be here.
So to kick March of on an absolute HIGH, here’s what I’m grateful for at the moment…

I have a confession.

“Goals just don’t work for me”
Sound familiar?
Yep, it does for me too.
Because in the past I decided that goals just didn’t work for me.
But the truth is, this was just another way I was keeping myself playing small.
I didn’t want to fail and by not setting myself goals I knew that I wasn’t failing, but I also wasn’t doing what I wanted either.
Goal setting can get a bit of a bad rap for being too rigid, for making people feel disappointed and like a failure if they don’t achieve them.
But I’ve found that goals can be super empowering and powerful, and can help us to:
Consciously create the life we want. Live a life that truly fulfils us and makes us happy. Move forward towards our vision. Be motivated to take action. Keep us accountable for what we truly want. And to help us make what we want — our actual reality.
If you’re wanting to set yourself goals that empower you and inspire you to take action and keep moving forward, here’s 9 goal setting mistakes that I often see (and have made myself!) In other words, here’s what NOT to do when it comes to setting goals.
A little note before we dive in: It’s totally okay if you’re making any of these goal setting mistakes. I know that throughout my life I’ve made every single one of these at some point.
If you want your goals to serve you, read on…
