Reflections on Winning the CEO Shine Award at the Beautiful You Coaching Academy Awards

On Friday the 15th of March I was honoured to have attended the 2018-2019 Beautiful You Coaching Academy Awards Celebration at The Savoy Hotel in Melbourne.

It was really special to come together and celebrate our incredible coaching community and the amazing work that Beautiful You coaches are doing in the world.

This evening was made even more special as I was the recipient of the Beautiful You CEO Shine Award from Julie Parker.

In this post I’m going to be sharing a wrap up of the Awards Night with my reflections on winning the CEO Shine Award.

A special thank you to Fi Mims Photography for all the incredible photos in this post.

The Beautiful You Coaching Academy Awards Night 2019

This is the third time I’ve attended the Beautiful You Coaching Academy Awards Night as a finalist. They are always such special evenings to come together in-person and celebrate the amazing work that Beautiful You coaches are doing in the world.

As coaches we can spend a lot of our time sitting behind a computer at home by ourselves, so I always appreciate how special it is to get dressed up and to come together in-person to acknowledge and celebrate our coaching community.

It is even more special on these evenings to have the support of other Beautiful You coaches there on the night, as well as all the family and friends who come along on the night (and get a peek into ‘our world’).

Winning the CEO Shine Award

I am (truly) honoured to have received the CEO Shine Award and to be recognised in such a special way.

The Shine Award is, “A private award given to a Beautiful You Life Coach that CEO & Founder Julie Parker believes most embodies the qualities of a Beautiful You Coach and consistently shows heart, commitment and authentic effort in serving their clients and building their business.”

To be acknowledged and recognised in this way is really special and probably my greatest ‘achievement’ in my work as a life coach.

However if you’ve read this post you’ll know that I (like many people) find it hard to acknowledge and celebrate my achievements. I have to constantly remind (and coach) myself to not downplay my achievements and to allow myself to celebrate them. As I wrote in the article: “The things you do, the things you achieve, the things you are proud of — all of it — are a big deal.”

So I’ve been constantly reminding myself over the past couple of weeks to recognise that this is a big deal and to allow myself to receive this acknowledgement and to celebrate it fully.

At the end of last year I felt like I hadn’t ‘achieved’ much in my business or in my life that year to be honest by the end of that year. I had a challenging year health-wise and it impacted my ability to do all the things I wanted to do in my business (and life) and my capacity that year.

It wasn’t until I reflected back on the year that I realised I had been more intentional with focusing on my coaching skills than ever before. I also felt really good about the work I did with my clients that year and it felt more meaningful than ever.

When I graduated from my life coach training with Beautiful You in April 2015 I made a commitment to myself that I would be a coach forever and that I would use my coaching skills for the rest of my life — in whatever way I can. I still have no idea what this will always look like, but I am committed to using what I’ve been given and the skills I’ve learnt in this lifetime in whatever way I can for the rest of my life.

Some final words of gratitude

Even though I look happy in the photo above, speaking in front of groups is basically my worst nightmare so I’m actually freaking out here! As my acceptance speech was super short (because freaking out 😉) I want to take the opportunity here to express my gratitude to some really important people, all who have a huge impact on me being able to be a coach and do the work I do.

A huge thank you to…

Julie and the entire Beautiful You Team. Thank you for doing what you do and for playing such a huge role in me being able to do the work I do. I am so grateful for all that you have done and all you continue to do for us Beautiful You Coaches. I am honoured to be apart of the ripple effect that is the Beautiful You Coaching Academy and I know I will use what you have given me for the rest of my life. There are no words, thank you for everything you do.

My partner Todd and my family. I am super grateful to have such a supportive partner and family. I am able to do what I do because of them.

On the night I dedicated my award to all the Beautiful You coaches in the room and all of those in the wider Beautiful You community who weren’t there on the night. Being a coach doing this work isn’t always easy but witnessing Beautiful You coaches out there doing amazing work continually inspires me to keep showing up myself.
