Rachel Macdonald’s Bright-Eyed and Blog-Hearted is the online blogging course for those who want to create a killer blog or take their current online presence to the next level.
Last week I shared all about my experience with Bright-Eyed and Blog-Hearted, and today we’re going to hear from some inspiring humans from the Bloghearted Facebook community: Meg O’Sullivan, Katherine Mackenzie-Smith, Naomi Arnold and Lyndsey Eden.
These interviews reveal the amazing things that have happened from starting a blog, their best advice on what to do when you’re letting fear hold yourself back from starting a blog or pursuing any other dream and what being in the Bloghearted community feels like.
So enjoy soaking up their totally inspiring responses – they are chock full of wisdom!
Also I have included links to each of their websites, be sure to check them out they are all super awesome.
I’ve become a magnet for amazing human beings. Since launching Adventuring Home just over a year ago I have formed the most magical, mind-blowing relationships with so many women. They are the kind that offer me an abundance of support, energy and laughter. They are the kind relationships that I was not aware were missing from my life, but now realise I was so very, very, very much craving. The online world is one crazy beautiful space.
JUST. DO. IT.
Don’t waste your sacred life energy on worrying about all the possible things others could think and say about you. Everyone is going to have an opinion and you can’t control that. But what you can control is how YOU feel. And what makes us feel our most true, alive and thriving selves is when we are following our excitement and expressing ourselves openly. So do this and forget about the rest. Your only job is to feel good.
Electric. Nurturing. Responsive.
It’s like one big, beautiful and supportive group of biz coaches, on-call and ready to help answer your questions, celebrate your wins or brain storm ideas at any moment of the day.
After starting my blog, I quickly discovered that my current ‘dream career’ didn’t light me up at all and my blog became my obsession. It’s funny how finding your true passion casts a shadow on what you think you should be doing and sends you in a completely different direction. That new path led me to a community of beautiful people, wonderful new friends, and a business that I absolutely love. And it all started with a little blog.
I would ask, what are you afraid of or what’s the worst that could happen? If you’re not sure, keep asking yourself and the answer will appear, but confronting that fear head on often takes the ‘bigness’ out of it and help you move through it. Please just remember that, even if you think you don’t have anything valuable to contribute, you absolutely do. Write what you’re passionate about, be your beautiful self, and discover what moves you because it will move others too!
Love-soaked, passionate, supportive.
This is a great question, and really tough to answer because so many amazing things have happened since starting my blog and business. I’m going to say that the most amazing thing was not only forming beautiful and supportive connections with others, but also forming a stronger connection with myself, my needs and my sense of purpose.
I too really struggled to put myself out there when I first started blogging. I had been working for the Australian Government for 8 years, so it had been a long time since I “owned” my work and voice – everything I created was badged with the Commonwealth stamp, everything I said was on behalf of the organisation, and everything I created went through the bureaucratic chains of approval before being released to the world. As a new blogger and business owner it was terrifying to suddenly be the creator and the approver – and to have sole responsibility for what I put out in the world.
My best piece of advice would be to start acting now – to not wait until you have all of your cards lined up. Set an intention for how you want your reader to feel and/or for how you want to feel yourself – then let go of perfectionism, embrace vulnerability, and step out into the uncertain world. You will be amazed at the doors that open and close when you do this – and the confidence and clarity that follows as a result. Oh and sometimes, asking yourself “What would I do if I loved myself more? Or what would I do if I was my most confident self?” can help.
Inspirational. Magnetic. Magical. Supportive. Oops, that’s four…
I found a passion within me that I knew existed but never as much as I knew until I started my blog. I am still a baby in the blogging world and I am still learning oodles and oodles but the love, support and connection I have received from family, friends and complete strangers has been so incredibly heart warming.
I have had features and guest posts and instagram regrams that have been so exciting and beyond what I thought could happen but I think the most amazing thing for me is connecting with my tribe. Getting an email from someone telling me that I have inspired them to go after their dream, try something new, change their diet, words I wrote touched their heart, or they made a recipe of mine and it turned out delicious!
I pinch myself when I receive emails and little love notes like that. I always said even if I can inspire just one person through my blog I will feel absolutely blessed. So at the moment I am totally blissed out and blessed up!
Honestly just do it!
Life has this beautiful way of guiding you to exactly where you need to be. The universe will be there for you no matter what, but you have to take that first leap, that first push through fear to see what is out there for you, the love that is waiting…
I know that sounds so cliche and is much easier to say than to do but really spreading your wings and taking the leap is all you can really do.
Whenever I choose love over fear it is always the right decision, it always leads me down a path filled with happiness, joy and passion. Choosing love allows me to make mistakes, let go of perfection, live up to my truest potential, embrace this journey we call life wholeheartedly and authentically and to be true to myself, my wants, needs and desires.
So just do it, choose love, choose you, choose happiness and trust that everything will work out exactly the way it should, one step in front of the other, one blog post after another, trust.
